Inkumbu — Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 25, 2026

Welcome to Inkumbu (also known as ThoughtLink). We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how Inkumbu handles your data.

1. What We Want You to Know

Inkumbu does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data — period.

Inkumbu is an offline-first Android application. It runs entirely on your device. It has no server, no cloud backend, no telemetry, and no network connectivity for user data. Nothing you do in the app leaves your phone.

2. What Happens on Your Device

Chat Data

  • Your conversations, messages, and chat threads are stored only in local Room database storage on your device.
  • They are never synced, backed up to the cloud, or transmitted anywhere.

Files

  • Files you add to the app's library are stored only on your device's local storage.
  • The app indexes and embeds these files locally using an on-device AI model.

AI / Machine Learning

  • All AI inference runs locally on your device using the Google LiteRT-LM engine.
  • No prompts, responses, or embeddings are sent to any external server.
  • The AI model runs entirely on your device's hardware.

Settings

  • Your app settings (theme, language, model preferences) are stored locally using Android DataStore.
  • No settings data is transmitted anywhere.

3. Permissions

Inkumbu requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality:

  • Storage/Files — To let you read and attach files to chats.
  • Internet — Only used for downloading the AI model file initially and for model updates. No user data is transmitted.
  • No camera, microphone, location, or contacts access.

4. Third-Party Services

Inkumbu does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. There is no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Crashlytics, and no telemetry of any kind.

5. Children's Privacy

Inkumbu is not specifically designed for children. However, since no data is collected, there is no personal information to protect under children's privacy laws such as COPPA or GDPR's child protection provisions.

6. Changes to This Policy
